Canstruction 2023

The West Tennessee STEM Hub was thrilled to organize the 2023 competition of Canstruction for the schools in the area! Students from the Memphis area were invited to design a structure (or multiple structures) entirely using canned foods and employ the labels to create amazing designs. We saw some incredible builds, creative artwork, and marvelous teamwork among the schools that participated. Over 4,000 food cans were collected and donated to the University of Memphis’s Tiger Pantry, which sets out to eliminate food insecurity among college students.

It was hard to choose a winner between the amazing builds, but one team took the win. Congratulations to St. Agnes for their amazing two sided design with a mixture of Memphis Tigers and Grizzlies. Once the competition was over our hardworking STEM Ambassadors worked to transport all the cans to the Tiger Food Pantry on campus. Thank you to all the teams that came to compete, and we look forward to seeing even more teams next year!

So many students worked incredibly hard on their design, but only one school could take the prize.

Congratulations St. Agnes!
